SYDNEY: Melbourne label Limedrop took top honours at the Chambord Shine Awards, with its design to be worn by a celebrity at the spring racing carnival.
Limedrop designers Clea Garrick and Nathan Prince were awarded first prize for their dress, which featured a carousel horse print on the front and back to capture a racing theme.
Limedrop came ahead of nine other brands, including Subfusco, George Wu, Talulah, Jacqueline Buck Couture, Anna Campbell, Jolet, Danielle Van Camp, Luela and Lulu in Chains.
The third installment of the competition was judged by a panel including L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival director Grant Pearce, actress Gracie Otto, racing identity Kate Waterhouse, marie claire fashion editor Kate Harrowsmith and Kate Mansour from Chambord.
The dress will be worn by Otto at the forthcoming spring racing carnival. Limedrop will also receive a double page spread in marie claire magazine and the chance showcase their work at the Strand Arcade’s ‘An Evening with our Designers’. They will also be sponsored to participate in the 2011 L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival.
The awards were held at The Strand Arcade in Sydney yesterday evening.
