Candy from Strangers expand their horizons
Sydney-based accessory company Candy from Strangers has joined forces with world renowned Australian artist Stuart McLachlan to create a new t-shirt label for women.
Due to be launched in May, Saki Saki will target stylish women of all ages who appreciate fun and creative designs.
"We have always wanted to design a t-shirt range, but starting up a small business with minimum funding meant that we had to be patient," said company co-owner Haley Gray.
"We didn't want to launch a t-shirt range that we weren't 100 per cent happy with so we took a risk in the equally competitive accessory market and created Candy from Strangers, which has been an overwhelming success."
Keen to support the local fashion industry, the collection will be designed and printed in Australia and whilst specific details about the look of the debut range were sketchy at the time of press, Gray did reveal that the range would "combine [everything from ] slogans and graphics through to beautiful hand drawn designs."
"We didn't want to limit ourselves to a certain style. Working with McLachlan and art director Oliver Vickery gave us an opportunity to turn our ideas into wearable art."
McLachlan, who has worked as an illustrator in Amsterdam, Montreal, Vancouver, Melbourne and Sydney, is also currently commissioned to design Singapore Airlines global destination posters.
The company hopes the t-shirts, which will retail for approximately $69.95, will be In further company news, Candy from Strangers will launch a new range of fashion accessories in March. The range will include infused resin pieces, hand carved chunky wood rings, leather pendants and knitted winter tie belts.
