US-based footwear giant Jeffrey Campbell has zeroed in on the local market.

An online Australian retailer which specialises in ‘eclectic’ printed leggings and bodysuits will team up with the well-known brand to create a limited edition footwear range.

Brisbane-Based Black Milk, which will also open a new production studio next month in a bid to keep up with customer demand, creates prints ranging from muscle ligaments and giraffe to metallic and retro games.

Marketing manager Cameron Parker said with more than 100,000 Facebook fans and a soaring online business, a collaboration was the next big step. The brand’s most popular prints will be recreated with Campbell’s iconic range through a joint venture with solstruck.com, producing five limited-edition styles.

He said the venture came at a strong time for Black Milk.

“We’ve grown over 1,000 per cent and are about to open our third studio in Brisbane to handle all the production,” Parker said. We simply can not make our gear fast enough – it’s mental.”

A new Facebook and web application allowing customers to upload images of themselves in Black Milk product has had a significant impact on sales.

“We found that once people were posting these images, alongside the actual product, this was encouraging other people to buy as they could see people of all shapes and sizes in the item they wanted,” Parker said.
