:Hawaiian expansion
PERTH: Western Australian-based property development company Hawaiian has entered into an unconditional agreement to purchase Perth's self-proclaimed "centre of style", The Colonnade. The sale, for an undisclosed sum, means Hawaiian will now control seven retail centres in the Perth metropolitan area including: Carillon City, Claremont Arcade, The Park Centre and Mt Hawthorne Plaza. Settlement is set down for October 31.
:Winners announced
SYDNEY: Wentworthville-based lingerie retailer DeBra's has been named the winner of the 2005 Australia Post NSW/ACT Small Business Award - marketing category. Staged at the Sofitel Wentworth Sydney late last month, the awards ceremony recognised the professional excellence of small businesses and the vital role they play in the community. Other winners on the night included Sydney-based fashion business Taylor & Khoo, which won the Special Judges Commendation category.
:UTS exhibition
SYDNEY: More than 150 final year fashion design students from The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) will showcase their work at the UTS: Design 50 exhibition in December. :CCCT calling
MELBOURNE: China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles (CCCT) is hoping an expo showcasing its product will help increase the volume of trade with Australia. The expo, being staged at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre November 23 to 26, is targeted at Australian importers, wholesalers and retailers and is promoted as the largest and most specialised trade show for China's textiles and clothing products in the South Pacific region. According to statistics supplied by CCCT, the bilateral trade volume in textiles and clothing between China and Australia reached $US1.94 billion ($A2.57 billion) last year, an increase of 21.3% from the previous year.
