NATIONAL: High profile snapper Richard Bailey has taken out the fashion category in Capture magazine's Australia's Top Photographers 2009 awards. Bailey, who has shot for local and international editions of Marie Claire, Vogue, Elle, Allure and Mode, has also built up a growing celebrity following having worked with actresses including Cate Blanchett, Hilary Swank and Elizabeth Hurley. Bailey beat off stiff competition from the likes of peers Georges Antoni and Derek Henderson, both of whom were named finalists.
Cable joins masses
MELBOURNE: Victorian knitwear label Cable has opened its first retail pop up store. The store, located in Melbourne's Armadale, will showcase the label's entire autumn/winter collection constructed from Australian merino wools and imported Italian bamboo, silk and cotton yarns. Styles include trench coats, jackets, vests, dresses, skirts and the new range of Cable basics. NATIONAL: Sydney-based retail chain Oroton has introduced a new cashmere collection in the lead up to winter. The knitwear range includes three styles, a traveller wrap, a dip dye wrap and what the infinity scarf. Available instore now, the collection has recommended retail price points of $145 for the scarf and between $195 and $245 for the wraps. Colour ways include grey, black and industrial blue. The new line is one of a number of changes implemented by the listed group in recent months with the brand opening its 40th store in Collins Street, Melbourne.
