Myer markets itself

SYDNEY: Department store Myer has convinced 165 of its suppliers to underwrite half the cost of an aggressive new marketing campaign. The brand, home to such labels as Seduce, Cue, Wayne Cooper and Blaq, has agreed to buy $30 million of extra stock in exchange. The move will see the retailer double its existing marketing budget for three months to help offset the impact of the slowdown in consumer spending. Along with mainstream media, suppliers will also have specific point-of-sale in stores, and events such as pop-up fashion shows.

Bonds was among the first to lend its weight to the move stating retailers needed to be innovative to succeed in the current environment.
