SYDNEY: A number of fashion e-tail sites have been announced as finalists in the inaugural Online Retail Industry Awards.
Supre, Sportsgirl, General Pants and Jeanswest are among the retailers competing for honours. Ten categories will be judged, with an overall winner announced as Online Retailer of the Year 2010.
The event is run by National Media, the company which is also behind the Online Retailer Expo & Conference, to be held from July 6 to 9 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Chair of the judging panel Andy Powell said the calibre of entrants showed the Australian e-commerce industry has grown in sophistication.
“Looking beyond the obvious elements like usability, look and feel, and content quality, we have been seeking those entrants who demonstrated a sympathetic understanding of who comes to their business and why they’re there, and can translate that understanding into a compelling and enriching experience,” he said.
Supre is a finalist in the category of best Multichannel Retailer and swimwear site Trixan Body is a finalist for both the Best Pure-Play Online Retailer and Best New Online Retailer. Jeanswest and Citybeach are up for Best Use of Technology, while Sportsgirl and General Pants will compete with other entrants to be named Most Innovative Online Retailer. A number of other categories will also be judged.
The finalists will be announced on July 8 at a gala event at the Parkside Ballroom, Sydney.
