PERTH: The rise of street fashion blogs will influence the forthcoming Perth Fashion Festival, as revealed in the official schedule launched yesterday.

A key runway event themed Fifteen Minutes will be inspired by the street fashion snaps taken of the public that feature on Western Australian fashion blogs.

The seven day festival also features a catwalk show called Every Body Counts, which will feature women of various sizes who are not professional models.

Other features include the Mischka Aoki Kids Parade, which will show couture for children up to three years old. A show themed Boys, Boys, Boys will focus on prominent Perth menswear labels, while the STM Swimwear show will reveal the latest swimwear for summer 2010.

A series of designer label runway shows and group shows will see 160 labels, 100 models and over 100 Western Australian designers involved. Brands including Antipodium, Empire Rose, Ae-Lkemi, Flannel, Joveeba, Liz Davenport, One Fell Swoop, Ruth Tarvydas and Wheels and Dollbaby will feature.

Perth Fashion Festival will run from September 9 to 15 at venues across the city. It is the 12th year of the event, with a mix of ticketed and free events for the public. The 2009 installment attracted 33,000 attendees.

Directed by founder Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan, it is run in partnership with City of Perth, EventsCorp and Department of Culture and the Arts.
