NATIONAL: Cutting edge womenswear label Ellery has scored its first department store exclusive.
The brand will join the Myer stable for the spring/summer 2010 season. As part of its entry into Myer, Ellery will feature in the department store's high-profile catwalk show on August 14.
The brand's latest collection, showcased at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week earlier this month, will be available in flagship stores across Sydney and Melbourne.
Myer director of fashion and accessories Judy Coomber said the company had been eyeing Ellery for some time.
“I have watched Ellery over the last couple of seasons when I have judged the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival Young Designer Award. She has been a fantastic finalist for the past two years and showed outstanding talent. Her recent show at RAFW in Sydney was one of the real highlights of the week.”
Ready-to-wear labels Nina Maya, Fernando Frisoni and Aurelio Costarella also joined the Myer stable recently. However, the department store will shift its focus internationally this Thursday when it promotes Givenchy, Moschino, Piazza Sempione and Philosophy by Alberta Ferretti at a cocktail party in Melbourne.
The four brands were recently announced as new entries to the Myer international portfolio. British menswear label Peter Werth will also launch exclusively into Myer later this year.
The company is expected to announce additional Australian and international fashion exclusives later this year.
