Copycats beware
Melbourne apparel company Elwood Clothing wins a copyright infringement case against Cotton On. Law firm Middletons confirms that the Full Federal Court has delivered judgment in favour of Elwood, in an appeal regarding T-shirt and swing ticket designs substantially copied by Cotton On.
Ad man hits back
The man behind the viral campaign to launch Witchery menswear admits disillusionment over its media reception. Mat Baxter, CEO of ad agency Naked Communications, worked closely with Witchery to develop the campaign and was disappointed with criticisms that it deliberately misled the public.

Designer Collette Dinnigan unveils an innovative frock created in partnership with electronics giant Sony. The Sony Midnight Magnolia gown - part of Dinnigan’s spring/summer 09 collection - features a photographic image of a magnolia taken using Sony's new _900 (Alpha) digital SLR camera.

Listed wholesale group Mercury Brands halts trade in the lead up to a company announcement related to a proposed rights issue. The Victorian-headquartered company, formerly trading as Austin Group, has endured a tough 2007/08 financial year with a reported loss of $7.85 million.
