Bennett gets in bed

Not content with manufacturing for large retailers and major clothing brands under Bennett Clothing, and creating corporate uniforms and promotional apparel with its Apparel Solutions brand, it has now launched a fashion sleepwear range aimed at boutiques and independent retailers.

The new BillyDream label concept was devised by Deborah and David Bennett, the daughter and grandson of the late Ron Bennett, a name synonymous with pioneering Australian menswear during the 1950s and 1960s.

“While researching and developing BillyDream the most common piece of feedback we heard was the need for a return to basics, while still maintaining a sense of fashion.” David said.

“Over recent years our competitors have become too focused on what looks funky, or even funny, at the expense of style and most importantly – comfort.

“Our motto ‘sleepwear with love’ will apply to everything we do from design through to service.”

The duo said they have used the latest fashionable prints for the 100 per cent cotton sleepwear bottoms and the fully combed 100 per cent cotton tops.

Price points for a sleepwear set range between $60-$80 and key pieces include thigh and over the knee length shorts, trousers and vest tops.
Designs and patterns vary from lace trims and polka dots to bows, flowers and fills.

“When it comes to retailers, BillyDream is deliberately targeting independent boutique retailers who have a solid and long established local profile,” David said.

“Because we want the BillyDream experience to be special, who better to represent our brand than local independent retailers who know their clientele best.”

The sleepwear tops will be made at the company owned facility in Thailand, while the sleepwear bottoms will be made at its Sydney factory.

“We’re really proud to have been able to achieve a mix of onshore and offshore manufacturing to ensure a competitive retail price,” David added.

Customers will be able to buy online at the BillyDream website or at selected boutiques, such as Simone Louise, and David said they also have future high hopes of gaining stockists in New Zealand.
