SYDNEY: International luxury label Belstaff has hit Australian shores as Nick Mascitelli Imports (NMI) continues to burn up the acquisition trail.
The first drop of stock from the heritage brand hit local shores earlier this month in the wake of NMI’s acquisition of its Australian distribution rights.
NMI managing director David Mascitelli revealed the investment was motivated by Belstaff’s “history”, “quality” and its “synergy” with the existing NMI product portfolio.
NMI has already secured three stockists for Belstaff – namely Henry Bucks, Varino and Deus ex Machina – though Mascitelli aims to have the label in 20 doors in the long term.
He revealed Australian stockists will have access to the entire Belstaff range including menswear, womenswear and accessories. Stockists can elect to sell product either in line with northern hemisphere seasons or in alternate seasons and retail price points for Belstaff’s leather jackets span $400 to $1200.
On the home front, NMI has also secured its first ever locally-produced label, LAB Local Artist Base. The menswear brand is the brainchild of designer Chris Cheng and made its industry debut at the 2009 new generation group show at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.
NMI has just commenced overseeing the label’s marketing, public relations and distribution and the first LAB collection will be available to stockists from November 2010.
Price points for the LAB ready to wear collection range from $90 to $1200 and the label is currently stocked in eight doors across Australia and Japan.
The two brands add to NMI’s burgeoning list of recent investments with the Sydney-headquartered importer having picked up eight labels since the dawn of 2010. Among the new additions are twenty8twelve by s.miller, French label Lou De Beauregard and shoe brand Beau Coups.
NMI confirmed it remains on the acquisition trail with new brands likely to join its portfolio in the coming months.
