Word has it that ex-soapie star and mum-to-be Bec Hewitt is considering developing her own women's fashion label. Rumors suggest Hewitt is joining forces with Sydney-based designer Bruno Schiavi, the man responsible for Delta Goodrem's Delta by anabella lingerie collection, to produce a casual outerwear range. Details are yet to emerge as to when the collection will launch and where it will be sold.

:Canine couture
Forget Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Hermes and Bottega Veneta dog collars, Australia's own aspiring luxury leather goods and accessories company Oroton is now venturing into the world of canine couture. Oroton's debut range of collars, which will hit Oroton stores nationally in November, feature pebble-grain leather with silver studs, buckle and ID disc in white, turquoise, hibiscus or black. Small size collars will retail for $59 while large collars will sell for $69.

:Personality clash
The general manager, marketing of a high profile Australian retailer has recently resigned, allegedly because the company head proved something of a megalomaniac. A source close to the departed marketer claimed a number of individuals had rapidly quit the position in the past because the chief executive in question was a "control freak". Apparently professionals with minds of their own need not apply.

:MAFW sceptic
Australian fashion event Mercedes Australian Fashion Week (MAFW) is widely touted as a top-level global fashion show, ranking alongside the Milan, Paris and New York Fashion Weeks; but the event's exalted status has been met with scepticism from one fashion industry observer. "People talk about how many orders MAFW gets from international buyers and it's really inflated. Of course nobody wants to admit that they haven't had any orders so it's common practice to massage their figures a little," the source claimed. As for the reason why hordes of overseas buyers flock to the event with no intention of buying - apparently free trip down under is the real drawcard.

As evidenced in most of the country's major metro newspapers, the number of photographers clamoring outside sass & bide's new flagship store in Sydney's Paddington on opening night was not too dissimilar to a bunch of malnourished seagulls flocking around a
