Beachley is back
Layne Beachley has secured accounts with Myer, Rebel Sport and independents for her new surfwear label, Blue Kiss.
The professional surfer-turned-apparel designer revealed Blue Kiss will debut in 30 Myer stores from August 20 and in all Rebel Sport stores nationally from September 1. The new label incorporates apparel and swimwear for women and kids including bikinis, board shorts, rash vests, t-shirts and cotton dresses. The venture is backed by two partners.
“One was the licensee for Hot Tuna in Australia many years ago and the second is our manufacturer in China,” Beachley said.
The label's key fabrics are nylon, spandex, polyester and cotton and retail prices for the kids' product range from $39.99 to $44.99. Ladies’ bikinis retail from $59.95, tankinis from $69.99 and board shorts and rash vests for $39.99.
The label is manufactured in China and Beachley expects to release two Blue Kiss collections per year. The label is available for wholesale to independent retailers.
Blue Kiss is the second fashion venture for Beachley following her now defunct collaboration with Kmart on sportswear line Beachley Athletic.
“Kmart decided to discontinue Beachley Athletic not because it was not selling well but due to a change in direction of their business,” Beachley said.
