NATIONAL: High street retail chain Bardot has announced the launch of a new menswear brand set to rival Witchery Man.

The Melbourne group today (June 3) said the new casualwear label, dubbed James Marlon, would be positioned alongside the existing Bardot denim line.

Bardot general manager Basil Artemides said the company would operate as an independent business with Chris Skoufis named as director.

"We're in a great position to give customers what they look for in a pair of jeans given our years of experience in developing Bardot denim."

Skoufis said the collection would undergo "vigorous quality and fitting processes" and would boast recommended price points of around $160 for a pair of jeans.

The range will be available in selected boutiques from August.

Bardot is the second Australian womenswear chain to introduce a menswear line this year following the much publicised launch of Witchery Man in February.
