Australian Fashion Week unveils new look
In an attempt to address concerns raised during the last two instalments of the event, international fashion marketing firm IMG will implement a raft of new changes to RAFW next year.
Speaking exclusively to Ragtrader, IMG Asia Pacific managing director Simon Lock said the most significant initiative would be the introduction of a new floor plan and design scheme for trade area The Source. Aiming to tackle the ongoing problem of poor traffic flow in the area, organisers are now looking to house the exhibition space at the heart of the bi-annual affair. This means exhibitors will now be positioned in a hub that leads to all three main collection showrooms, the VIP bar and other major thoroughfares. In a significant turnaround to the spring/summer 2006/07 instalment, The Source will also be surrounded by the event registration area, rather than behind it.
Lock said he was confident this would encourage a greater response from local and international buyers.
"We're hoping these changes will ensure that the event continues to grow and develop and create more business opportunities for participating designers."
For the first time ever, organisers will now also offer participants their own choice of design schemes including raised flooring, carpeting and different colour ways. They will also have the choice of a space-only booking which would allow them to develop their own showroom space for installation.
High-profile designers have also not been left out the While Lock would not confirm any bookings at the time of press, he said IMG had already started meeting with designers and introducing them to the new sales package.
