SYDNEY: The company behind The Athlete’s Foot retail chain has announced a record net profit after tax for the financial year to June 27, 2010.
RCG Corporation reported a figure of $6.9 million, up 30.6 per cent on the previous financial year.
Its sales growth for The Athlete’s Foot increased 11.6 per cent from $166.7 million to $186.1 million. This included like-for-like growth of 8.3 per cent.
The sporting shoe business has 143 stores across Australia and New Zealand. In the past year, 18 stores have either been built or converted into large format outlets.
RCG Corporation’s Shoe Superstore business experienced a like-for-like sales growth of 13.5 per cent over the previous financial year. It acquired the three stores and the e-commerce portal in late 2009.
Shoe Superstore has undergone a strategic review, with its brand identity, logo, fitout, stock mix, pricing policy and customer service all refreshed.
The company launched wholesale operations on January 1, 2010 for the Merrell brand of footwear. It reported sales of $6.2 million for the period.
The wholesale division has also picked up two new international brands to distribute. These include Chaco, a technical performance sandal label and Cushe, a lifestyle, beach and surfwear footwear brand.
