NATIONAL: With a little over six weeks to go before nominations close, entries are pouring in for the 2006 Ragtrader TNT Fashion Retailer of the Year Awards. Judged by some of the industry's leading lights, the awards seek to identify the nation's best fashion retailers via a strict judging criteria taking into consideration such things as first impressions, store layout, customer service, employee training and, business and operational systems. Open to both chains and boutiques, self-nominations are also accepted. Entries close August 31 with winners announced at a glittering cocktail function on November 29. NATIONAL: Myer is set to introduce a new line of men's underwear to its stores fast growing a reputation as a "push-up" bra for men. Available from August, the new line, dubbed C-IN2, features a patented adjustable elastic strap in the crotch that "lifts, brings forward and improves the profile" of the wearer. Each piece in the collection also features a microfibre waistband that prevents its from rolling. Available in six styles, the range will retail for between $24.95 and $39.95 apiece. MELBOURNE: Footwear label Blu Moose has released a range of feather down slippers for men, women and children. Made from 70 per cent feather and 30 per cent down, the slippers are covered in a locally designed cotton japara outer and feature a velcro ankle strap. They also feature durable, non-slip soles and are machine washable. Blu Moose feather down slippers are available in small, medium and large for adults and in various sizes for children aged 6 months to 5-years-old. NATIONAL: Designers Marnie Skillings, Michelle Robinson and Natalie Wood have been shortlisted as finalists in the 2006 Pantene Young Women of the Year Awards. Open to women aged 35 and under, the awards seek to celebrate the achievements of women across a range of categories including fashion, design, hairdressing, film, music, sport, new face of the year, community and, business and innovation. Red Rocks
SYDNEY: The Westin Hotel will host a black tie extravaganza on July 28 to raise funds for the Australian Red Cross. The night will feature a 'Red Outfit Fashion Show' with celebrities modelling red outfits from leading designers including Matthew Eager, Tsubi, Alannah Hill, Bare by Rebecca Davies, Camilla Frank, Wayne Cooper, Leona Edmiston and Sass & Bide.
