MELBOURNE: Alex Perry will give the public a sneak peek of his Spring/Summer 2011 collection, with plans to showcase the new line at the 2011 L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) in March.

Although designer collection previews are traditionally the exclusive domain of fashion editors and buyers, the man who has been described as the “King of couture” and “Master of the ball gown” has decided to debut his new designs at LMFF for the first time, as part of the Red Carpet Runway event, to be held on March 16 at Melbourne’s Royal Exhibition Building.

LMFF creative director Grant Pearce said: “LMFF gives the consumer access to the glamour and excitement of fashion, Alex is a true icon in the Australian fashion industry and this will be the first time he has showed at LMFF and in Melbourne, which is incredibly exciting.”

Perry also said he is looking forward to the event next month.

“I am very excited to present my upcoming collection in Melbourne and I’m looking forward to making the event really special. LMFF has done remarkable things for Australian fashion and I look forward to being a part of the magic.”

The event will begin at 8.30pm on Wednesday, March 16 and includes a drink on arrival, premium seating and an exclusive, fully-catered cocktail party following the show. Limited premium tickets are currently on sale for $195.
