A new discovery

The Discovery Group chief executive Danny Avidan has hinted at a new designer initiative in the pipeline, following industry rumours he is seeking to purchase two high-profile fashion brands.

The apparel group currently operates a number of retail and wholesale brands in the local market, including Charlie Brown, Howard Showers and Lili.

Reports suggested Avidan, who founded the company in 1983, was looking to acquire labels Akira Isogawa and Wayne Cooper. However, in a statement to Ragtrader, Avidan denied the claims.

“I am not purchasing any brands despite rumours,” he said. “There is, however, always smoke where there is fire and I am doing something rather innovative.”
