NATIONAL: Textile, clothing and footwear businesses (TCF) have been urged to apply for grants worth $2.5 million in the latest round of the Federal Government's TCF Small Businesses Program.

Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research Senator Kim Carr said small businesses could apply for grants of up to $50, 000 for mentoring, marketing, branding, supply chain, e-commerce and export projects.

"This program is about boosting the competitiveness of smaller Australian designers and manufacturers in their domestic and overseas markets."

The previous round of grants saw $50, 000 injected into womenswear label Ginger and Smart, $21, 500 into menswear brand Frisoni Finetti, $20, 792 to couture designer Daniel Avakian and $43, 500 to Nina Maya. A total of 71 businesses were offered grants.
