NATIONAL: Luxury e-boutique Le Black Book has ramped up its offering in the lead up to the Christmas trading period. Operating under a similar business model to European giant net-a-porter.com, the womenswear specialist would now also include a daily blog, designer videos, monthly editor's notes and seasonal giveaways.

Owner and founder Kath Purkis said these would provide Le Black Book with a point of difference in the marketplace.

"Many Australian e-boutiques consist of one function, the shopping cart tool. I feel that a successful website must be interactive and provide customers with something they cannot source anywhere else."

Purkis said a menswear component had also been introduced with select offerings from Bowie and Hautematic. The two domestic labels would join high-end stable brands such as Kirrily Johnston, Anna & Boy, Fleur Wood, Daniel Avakian, Illionare and Jacqui Alexander.

The move follows a rough inauguration for Purkis, whose website launch was delayed following deadline issues with contractors. Le Black Book went live in July and has since showcased at Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival and bolstered its portfolio to include New Zealand designers.
