Supre to launch new store, new line and new look
Following on from the recent launch of its flagship store in Sydney's historic Gowings Building, the teen clothing chain has now locked its sights on another heritage hotspot in Melbourne.
Primed to open its doors in August, Supre's Bourke Street boutique is set inside a stone, charcoal building believed to have been inspired by 17th Century French architecture.
Once home to popular ladies boutique Darrod's and womenswear chain Katie's, the site is in a central location neighbouring department store David Jones. International brand manager Cathy Van der Meulen said it proved to be a perfect fit for the retailer, given its suitability to Melbourne's "edgy fashion crowd".
Alongside a fully furnished lounge for waiting "boyfriends, husbands and parents" the new store will also include a catwalk installation for future media launches and events.
Van der Meulen said the release of an exclusive spring/summer 2007 collection - available only through the Sydney and Melbourne flagship stores - would be timed to coincide with the exclusive store opening. The collection is split into four categories with 'Sexy In the City' for glam officewear, 'Brace Yourself' for a mod 1960s look, 'Balloons and Bows' to mark the trend for volume and 'Rockin Ruffles' for Spanish-inspired womenswear.
Fabrications include satins, knits, chiffons and cottons while colours range from charcoals and blacks for Sexy In the City to textured, metallic hues for Brace Yourself.
The store opening, scheduled for early August, will include a VIP media launch, a live performance from the company's new "rock ambassador" and a series of promotional events for consumers.
