Nautica Australia has teamed up with Seabin Australia as a unit sponsor of the Seabin 100 Smart Cities Program - Sydney.

Nautica sponsors the Seabin located at D'Albora Marina, Rushcutters Bay, supporting Seabin's mission to be active in 100 cities by 2050.

Seabin is a blue-tech start up tackling plastic pollution in the ocean via data, community engagement, education and clean up.

Since July 2020 – when Seabin launched its Sydney City pilot program – an estimated 81 million pieces of plastic have been collected from Sydney’s waterways using Seabin technology.

Nautica brand manager Gabriel Bastien-Dietrich said the brand is proud to support Seabin's vital work.

"Nautica Australia is delighted to be working with Seabin on our local shores.

"Nautica has always been inspired by, and affiliated with the water, and we look forward to supporting Seabin to achieve their mission," he said.

Since the program's launch in July 2020 to January 2022, the program has filtered 6.5 billion litres of water and collected more than 31.3 tonnes of marine debris.

Seabin co-founder and CEO Pete Ceglinski welcomed Nautica's support.

"We are so excited to have the support of Nautica, to help us in our mission to protect our most precious resource.

"As a globally recognised brand, with an obvious affiliation with our oceans, we look forward to the positive impact we will achieve together; not only through ocean clean up, but through data, education and behavioural change," he said.
