POSITION: Head Designer SPORTSWEAR

REPORTING TO: Managing Director /CEO

POSITION DESCRIPTION

• Set the design direction for the organisation ensuring it is in keeping with current sportswear trends and relevant to the Brands the company is marketing.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• The creation of sportswear ranges for the company’s branded products suitable to be distributed to Sports & Specialty stores, Department stores, Value chains and Souvenir outlets. These ranges must comply with brand guidelines set by property owners and be completed in time to meet buying time lines.

EXPECTED OUTPUTS/DUTIES

• Create themed ranges of men’s, women’s & kids sportswear with relevant hard good accessories (where the brand requires) such as bags and water sport equipment
• To progress ‘the design’ in order to produce the first page of the product specification process.
• ‘First page’ is a line drawing of the garment that includes fabric, accessories/trims, embellishment, colour and sizing.
• Liaise with pre production department to ensure all designs created are in keeping with and their customer’s production standards.
• Preparedness to travel overseas, US, Europe & Asia.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE and SKILLS

• 10 years experience designing men and women’s sportswear.
• High level of competency in the use of Illustrator and Photoshop software packages.
• Have travelled overseas with the purpose of designing a collection that successfully progressed the manufacturing process to retail.
• Understanding of offshore manufacturing process, with specific Chinese experience being a benefit.
• Understanding of pattern making and garment construction.
• Sound understanding of the Australian sportswear market.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills

These fashion labels have their own niche market and sell nationally.

You will be involved in setting up showroom sales, achieving sales targets, liaising with major account buyers and state boutiques both chain and stand alone. Working in a very busy environment you will need to have come from either a multi branded environment or been involved with a national icon fashion label.

STREETWEAR PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT/DESIGN

This position involves the development of products under the Licensed Product Categories. You are in charge of meeting all product related areas required for development and production

Key Responsibilities:

Help to source new design ideas, fabrics, garments, through contractors, mills, internet,
Develop new range for Menswear, Women’s wear, and Kids wear together with team.
Develop new seasonal product specs.
Develop any new sundries required for Indent ranges.
Arrange sampling with embroidery and screenprint contractors for both NZ & AUS on new development for sell in.
Co-ordinate sample requirements for indent sell in.
Follow up with contractors in development and production in a timely manner to ensure all deadlines are met.
Set up product codes, range sheet, and production plan for development and production.
Update development specs when appropriate from sampling to production.
Approve prototype samples, lab dips, fabric quality swatches and trims to contractors.
Arrange patternmaking on development of new products where appropriate.
Work with Graphic Designer in the set up of Line books for Sales Indent sell in to retailers.
Arrange approvals with embroidery and screenprint contractors for both NZ & AUS for production if necessary.
Travel to offshore contractors to work on development or any production related issues including QC when required.
Provide updated reports on a weekly basis to Directors and more detailed report on a monthly basis for Production role progress.
Additional duties as required by Directors and General Manager.

This leading Australian retailer are looking for an experienced QA to join their team, to help push the brand forward with regards to continually improving fit and quality of the product.

Duties Include:

Lead & maintain the quality standards of the brand
Organsie and conduct the fit process with buyers and suppliers
Give guidance to suppliers regarding fit, construction & quality
Assess specifications and documentations regarding fit samples, sealers and shipping samples
Maintain all manuals and documentations
Maintain good supplier relationships
Store visits to access overall quality levels at a retail level

You will need to have a patternmaking or technical background, with the relevant tertiary qualifications as well as being passionate about product with the ability to form and maintain good relationships both internal and external.
