Harman Grubiša will open New Zealand Fashion Week, receiving top honours as part of the Mercedes-Benz Presents series.

The womenswear brand (pictured) will launch the event on August 22, with the schedule spanning a full week to August 28.

New Zealand Fashion Week will include a consumer component via NZ Fashion Weekend and its popular Resene Designer Runway Show.

The Resene Designer Runway shows fall on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and showcase next-season collections from the trade event.

The Weekend will give consumers an opportunity to view in-season designer ranges.

Zambesi, Trelise Cooper, Kate Sylvester and World are among established designer brands showcasing at the event this year, with two dedicated new generation parades.

Other key brands on the schedule include Huffer, Stolen Girlfriends Club, Twenty Seven Names.

Founder Dame Pieter Stewart said the lineup would be an impressive one this year.

"[It] sees a particularly strong group of emerging, new generation and graduate designers and New Zealand Fashion Week is incredibly proud to provide a supportive platform which this next generation of talent can launch their careers.”
