Westfield has been given the green light for a $450 million project.

Westfield Innaloo (Perth) is the latest shopping centre to be given the nod for redevelopment by owners and operators Scentre Group.

The centre is set to expand from 51,300 square metres (sqm) to 99,000 sqm, making room for an additional 110 retailers to set up shop.

It is believed the redevelopment will create around 1900 construction jobs and 1250 permanent jobs on completion.

Scentre Group general manager Roy Gruenpeter said that the precinct will be an integral part of the Stirling City Centre in which it's located.

“This redevelopment will capitalise on Innaloo’s great location to become one of Perth’s premier retail destinations, as well as providing a key step towards the Stirling City Centre fulfilling its role as a Strategic Metropolitan Centre in Perth’s planning hierarchy.

“Some of the key features of this development include wide public spaces, active street frontages, multiple dining, leisure and entertainment precincts and the potential for future residential dwellings. Westfield Innaloo will become a vibrant heart for the Stirling City Centre.”

The project is currently appending approval from the North West Joint Development Assessment Panel, after which it will be underway late next year with a likely opening in early 2018.
