Designer label Jennifer Kate will return to domestic wholesaling in Australia after 12 months building its international business.

Founder and head designer Jennifer McCloy said that a number of key international buyers quadrupled their orders for its latest collection following Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA).

“MBFWA was a great commercial decision for us. I think there is incredible value in presenting your range as an experience, rather than clothing hanging on a rack."

McCloy said that partnering with online retailer The Iconic on distribution to the domestic market tackled a critical challenge.

“We were honoured to work exclusively with The Iconic to bring the range to Aussie consumers direct from the runway – usually our customers have to wait six months to see the runway pieces in store, which I think can be frustrating.”

She also pinpointed the US as the label's prime consumer base.

“Our success in the US has been a huge driver for us – we have strong relationships with a number of retailers there which we will continue to build upon”.

The label is currently focusing on  two other major markets, although McCloy was unable to disclose the locations.

McCloy is currently partnered with around 100 stockists across Australia, UK, US and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Australian consumers and wholesalers will be able to purchase Jennifer Kate on home soil in 2016.
