Australian watch brand the Melbourne Watch Company has announced it now plans to assemble and test all its products locally.

The brand has invested in implementing a workshop space within its Carlton location that will include a complete suite of watchmaking tools and equipment from suppliers including Bergeon and Horotec.

As part of the move, the company has also recently expanded to include two full-time watch technicians, who will be responsible for assembly, testing, servicing and repairs.

Melbourne Watch Company founder Sujain Krishnan said the brand would look to increase the number of technicians over the new year.

"By the end of this financial year, we aim to employ four full-time watch technicians. The creation of jobs within a relatively niche industry in Australia is a priority for us."
