Discount department store Target has provided a taste of its new fashion forward direction.

The retailer, owned by Wesfarmers, has released details of a planned store upgrade, which will see a new concept applied to 60 of its stores nationwide by mid-September.

The first store to sport the new concept will be its women's shoe department at Chadstone, Victoria's Fashion Capital.

The upgrade, which includes a fresh layout, additional upgraded seating and mirrors, also coincides with the roll out of Target's new 'Limited Editions' footwear range.

The latest shoe style for the range, titled 'Miranda', has now been released as part of a small marketing campaign aimed to introduce the line and Target's new fashion focus.

The classic black pump, described by Target as a “timeless wardrobe piece”, marks a new chapter for Target as it moves towards a more on-trend offering.

The 'Miranda' will retail for $60 and features padded footbeds, leather uppers and polka dot, scalloped silver trim lining and comes in black suede and black leather.

Target currently offers 560 styles of women's shoes across its national stores.
