Last year, Colleen Callander was appointed to lead Sportsgirl after the shock exit of long-serving CEO Elle Roseby. Now, her efforts are being recognised.

Callander is in the running to be crowed CEO of the Year by The CEO Magazine.

Callander moved across to Sportsgirl in December 2013, following a six and a half year tenure as CEO of sister company Sussan.

The magazine recognised Callander for reviewing processes and procedures to ensure a profitable business model.

This included the implementation of a new sourcing strategy that enhanced first margin by +5 per cent points.

It also included up to double digit sales increases which resulted in year-on-year improved bottom line results.

Callander is credited with a "clear brand vision and strategy that has been shared throughout the organisation".

Since taking on the position, seven internal promotions have taken place at the company.

The winner of the award will be announced at a gala awards evening at Sydney's Hilton Hotel on November 27.

Roseby left Sportsgirl to take the reigns at fast fashion chain Supre.
