David Jones has taken a hit for the first half of the financial year, following the loss of a key brand.

While the department store lifted adjusted first half sales 4%, the termination of its Dick Smitch concessions has impacted growth.

Overall sales growth fell by 2.7%, with the figure also reduced due to Boxing Day sales falling in the second half of its current financial year.

Parent company Woolworths also reported its Country Road subsidiary saw adjusted sales drop 0.9% over the same period.
