Australian retail is set for series of luxury firsts.

Australia's first Armani Collezioni and Queensland's first Ted Baker store are set to open next month as part of Indooroopilly Shopping Centre's $450 million redevelopment.

Italian luxury accessory brand Tod's has also opened its first boutique within the luxury precinct in Westfield Sydney.

The Sydney boutique features a wide range of Tod's bags, shoes and accessories, as well as a selection of unique and exclusive handbags.

Indooroopilly Shopping Centre will also house a number of Australian designer stores including Carla Zampatti, Zimmermann, Scanlan Theodore, Sass & Bide, Manning Cartell and Camilla.

The openings follow the pending launch of the seven-level Emporium Melbourne this month.

The 48,000-square-metre centre has 225 signed tenants.

IBISWorld predicts Australian luxury retail revenue to rise by an annualised 9.2 per cent over the five years through 2018/19 to total $2.2 billion.

This is compared with 1.3 per cent anticipated growth in clothing, footwear and accessories.

A special report in Ragtrader's April 2014 edition details the rise of luxury retail down under.
