Myer has thrown its support behind the Sydney Suit Ride.

The initiative sees 50 suited workers travel across the city by bike, showing the benefits for employees and businesses.

Lord Mayor Clover Moore said this is a major trend moving forward.

“Riding to work doesn’t have to be about wearing lyrca. Many commuters are now embracing the European approach by biking in suits and corporate wear,” she said.

“More people riding or walking to work generates more productivity for businesses – and it helps ease traffic congestion, which costs Sydney businesses and residents $5 billion every year.

Myer menswear GM Chris Wilson said riders inspired a new season campaign, The Commute.

"There's a strong appetite for workwear that's versatile enough to comfortably wear straight from the bike to the boardroom," Wilson said.

“This season it is all about finding fresh creative ways to dress for work. Men are moving towards a more relaxed approached when dressing for the office.

“The new ‘work wardrobe’ shifts from formal suiting attire to relaxed separates like sports jackets paired with slim chinos and a shirt.

"Our latest Commute catalogue showcases great value workwear essentials that are more versatile than ever and designed for a comfortable commute.”

The Suit Ride is part of the Sydney Rides Challenge, which finishes on March 31.
