Swimwear retailer Oz Resort is set to close its Mosman site after 28 years.

Owner Jacqui Major said she will relocate the entire operation to her warehouse in Balgowlah, which she owns.

Major said she made the decision last month, when she was advised her Mosman rent would increase by nearly 20%.

"It seems crazy to being paying nearly $3000 per week in rent, when I can pay for an ad in the paper or social media for free and our clients will come to us.

"As a retailer I have taken on Westfield and won, floated my company in 2004 on the ASX with Olivia Newton John and Brian Rochford.

"I have partnered with amazing swimwear brands Seafolly, Jets, Baku, Tigerlily only to be working all day for the landlord and that is it.

"It is not unusual in this day and age for the bricks and mortar stores to simply close their well established business and move to cheaper premises and just carry on their business on line."

"My customers come from far and wide therefore I am sure they will be supportive and travel to our new abode.

"I love the ragtrade and I am passionate about business but just sick of giving all my effort to a wealthy landlord."

Major said the new site will be promoted as a go-to destination for swimwear.

"If you need a swimsuit and need to be fitted by our 30 years of experience, we will fit you in our studio with comfy couches so you can bring your friends.

"We will even give you refreshments and make it more a styling session.

"Purchasing a swimsuit can be a challenge and we know all the tricks so it makes sense to have the whole operation under one roof and get rid of the expensive rents.

"We will still carry all the top labels and offer world wide delivery, loyalty shopping, and discounts for frequent shopping."

The move is expected to take place this month.
