Following sustained rising COVID-19 case numbers in Victoria, Premier Daniel Andrews has extended the mandatory mask requirement to regional Victoria.

That means that from Sunday 02 August at 11.59pm a face covering is mandatory whenever Victorians leave their home, wherever they live throughout Victoria.

This means that all retail staff throughout the State will be required to wear a mask at work.

In a statement, Premier Daniel Andrews said that the mandating of masks will help keep businesses open.

"I understand this will a big step for some.

"But by covering your face, you’re protecting your community, and protecting those extra freedoms your community enjoys.

"By covering your face, you’re keeping local businesses open, and keeping local people in work.

"There are, unfortunately, other changes we need to make," he said.
