Womenswear designer Dion Lee has put federal government funding to good use, garnering rave reviews for his London Fashion Week debut.
The 15-piece collection featured Lee's signature deconstructed tailoring, with tulle mesh panels, sheer organza overlays, spine detailing and light reflective fringing capturing themes of human anatomy and circulation.
Lee was granted $44,000 to build his export operations as part of the latest round of the TCF Small Business Program.
Vogue UK described his London collection as a "breath of fresh air - both literally and figuratively" and Lee as a "name to know time and time again."
Online fashion bible style.com added that while Lee is a "leading light" of Australian fashion, his latest collection confirmed he is "ready for a larger stage".
UK's Telegraph online also acknowledged the collection's commercial potential, noting it "will surely expand his sales and cut Dion Lee out as one of London's emerging stars".
Stand-out pieces included a black cut-out dress suspended in near invisible mesh, shirts created in layers of organza and floating chiffon dresses with mullet hems.
The collection was dubbed Sequence Breathing and showcased as part of London Fashion Week, which commenced on February 17.
