Australian hat label Will & Bear has planted over 410,000 trees as part of its partnership with trees.org.

For each hat sold the brand plants 10 trees, which over three years of business has resulted in the offset of 3,500 tonnes of carbon emissions.

Each woolen WIll & Bear hat is made using a combination of upcycled and recycled woolen offcuts and 100% Australian wool. The brand has also experimented with making a straw hat out of recycled paper.

Will & Bear co-founder Lauren Williams said that the business began with sustainability in mind.

"The whole concept behind starting Will & Bear was to give back to the natural world that we love so much, so it’s always been important for us to minimise our impact on the earth.

"Choosing to work with suppliers who would help us foster more innovative ways of producing sustainably and working with a team who helps us find biodegradable and renewable materials is so essential to us as a business," she said.

Will & Bear hats are available online and in 120 retailers across Australia with global expansion plans in the pipeline for 2020.
