We Wear Australian has announced an exclusive partnership with Klarna to help drive online sales for local designers.

Especially important now during the COVID-19 crisis, the #WeWearAustralian initiative unites and supports the 150 participating Australian fashion designers.

Participating brands include Ellery, MJ Bale, Carla Zampatti, Aquila and Bassike.

The partnership will see Klarna help to elevate the program by funding a consumer engagement program and national advertising campaign that will drive online shopping traffic directly to all participating brands across May and June.

Klarna will also launch a national consumer competition from May 12, with a total prize pool valued at $75,000.

Each of the 75 major prize winners will win a $1,000 shopping spree at participating Australian brands.

#WeWearAustralian co-founder Richard Poulson said that supporting Australian fashion through this time will ensure its survival.

"We applaud those who can help in this time in need, and through this powerful collaboration with Klarna, the united fashion brands with #WeWearAustralian are proud to celebrate and thank those amazing individuals in our community.

"By choosing to support local and purchase Australian brands, you are ensuring a thriving creative local industry will be there on the other side of this unprecedented time," he said.

Through the #WeWearAustralian campaign, Klarna and all participating brands will also make either a financial or clothing donation in support of two Australian charities - Dress for Success and Thread Together.

Dress for Success assists women wanting to return to the workforce by providing them with professional attire, while Thread Together takes new excess stock from designers and manufacturers and redistributes back to those in the community who need it the most.

The #WeWearAustralian campaign will run from May 12 to June 15 2020.
