Steinhoff chief Markus Jooste has resigned.
The Pepkor South East Asia parent company, which operates Harris Scarfe and Debenhams Australia, is in the midst of an investigation into accounting regularities.
Jooste resigned just one day after it postponed a full year results announcement.
The audited 2017 consolidated financial statements are now expected for release before January 31, 2018.
“Steinhoff will update the market as the aforesaid investigation proceeds,” Steinhoff told shareholders.
“The company will publish the audited 2017 consolidated financial statements when it is in a position to do so.
"In addition, the company will determine whether any prior years’ financial statements will need to be restated.”
