David Jones could be at the start of a major turn around. 

The department store has reported a 6.4 per cent increase in full year sales.

Comparable stores also grew 3.7 per cent and net space grew 1.3 per cent over the period.

The increase comes under under new South African owner, Woolworths Holdings.

David Jones sales have been reported from the date of acquisition in August 2014.

Woolworths, which will introduce its private label brands into David Jones next month, reported group sales increased by 54.9 per cent over fiscal 2015.

Country Road Group, also owned by Woolworths, increased sales in Australia and New Zealand by 11.5 per cent.

Comparable stores grew 4.7 per cent and net space grew 23.1 per cent.

Woolworths is due to report full-year profits on August 27.
