The Strand Melbourne will launch its inaugural 'Colours of The Strand Melbourne' photography competition this July to September with a big focus on fashion.
The centre has enlisted street style blogger Jasmin Howell of Friend in Fashion to endorse the competition, with Acne Studios, Feathers, Desigual and Gorman offering up prizes for winners.
Howell said her support for the event stems from her own experience in fashion and style photography.
“I’ve built a career on capturing photos of the things I love and lust after, so it’s hugely exciting to be part of a creative campaign that asks fellow Melburnians to do the same.
“As well as being home to some of my favourite home-grown and international labels, The Strand Melbourne is an aesthetic icon of Melbourne’s CBD, known for its eye-catching façade that lights up the city with its colourful fins.
“I’ve been fortunate to travel the world with my blog and I always love coming home to Melbourne; this city is so well known for its appreciation of culture and the arts.
“The 'Colours of The Strand Melbourne' photography competition is a fantastic opportunity for people to express their creativity and I can’t wait to see the shots.”
The Strand general manager Shane Brown believes the initiative will aim to award budding photographers with an array of luxury fashion and accessories.
“‘Colours of the Strand Melbourne’ is a great way to get more people thinking about our new precinct which opened in July 2014 and is home to first-to-market international and local boutique stores.
“We hope the competition inspires people to express their creativity for a chance to win an amazing array of colourful products from some of our shops.”
All photos entries will be viewable online.
