UPDATE 16/01/2012: Diane Von Furstenburg has extended its commitment to take on five Fashion Future applicants and has already identified several contenders. Viktor & Rolf has also offered to take on more than one candidate.

Fashion Future has announced the first winner of its new international mentoring initiative, with another nine internships to be claimed within the next two weeks.

As reported previously on ragtrader.com.au, the International Mentor Program launched this year and offers 20 global fashion opportunities across New York, London, Milan and Paris, to those in Australia who work within the fashion industry.

Included in the program are 10 international internships at brands such as Balenciaga, Christian Dior, Diane Von Furstenberg, Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani, Herve Leger, Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo, Tom Ford and Viktor & Rolf. Internships are for a minimum of three months.

The first winner, Claudia Milham of Raffles College has received a $15,000 prize package for an International Internship, although it has not yet been decided where she will begin her experience. Milham also received an Acer Tablet from Acer. 

The total prize package is worth more than $250,000 and also includes 10 mentor VIP experiences at New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week and a Paris trade event. Each winner will also receive an Acer Tablet from Acer. 

This will also include two tickets to New York Fashion Week, four tickets to London Fashion Week, a Sportgirl collaboration, a Paris trade event, and a WGSN mentorship. Applications for the10 mentor VIP experiences will close on February 13.

Applications for the international program will be short-listed by the Fashion Future team in consultation with sponsors and are then presented to an advisory board.
