Five Australian designers showcased their fall/winter collections at a private cocktail event in New York last night, the culmination of a joint venture between Woolmark and the Australians In New York Fashion Foundation.
Dubbed 'The Australian Five', the annual initiative aims to promote Australian designers in the market with an official slot on the G'Day USA schedule.
Michael Lo Sordo, Kym Ellery, Magdalena Velevska, Christopher Esber and Fernando Frisoni were honoured at the intimate gathering at Crosby Street Hotel.
A showroom has also been operating throughout the week, promoting their wares to top-tier buyers and media including Barneys and style.com.
Key figureheads at the cocktail event included Australians In New York Fashion Foundation representatives Malcolm Carfrae, Richard Christianson and Julie Anne Quay.
Also present were Calvin Klein designer Kevin Carrigan, Australian actor Emma Lung, photographer Sante D'Orazio and daughte rof former Australian Prime Minster Katherine Keating.
