Footwear company Emu Australia has announced its global partnership with charity WaterAid which aims to provide clean water to impoverished communities.

The brand's initial donation will go towards kick starting 15 projects in areas of Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste.

Emu Australia managing director Paul Neate believes the partnership reflects the values of both the company and its consumers.

“Partnering with WaterAid is an important step for us.

“We know our globally connected consumers care deeply about issues such as safe water for people in the poorest countries, as do we.”

WaterAid Australia chief executive Paul Nichols believes that support from the from the brand will action positive changes in regions effected by unsanitary water.

“WaterAid is delighted to have EMU Australia as a global partner in 2016.

“WaterAid works to transform the lives of the world’s poorest and most marginalised people by improving access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene.

“With EMU’s support WaterAid can help reduce disease, create better livelihoods and ensure more women and children take steps on the pathway to prosperity.”

Emu Australia currently operates in over 70 countries globally and is sold through 5000 stores as well as online.
