Ellery Land is not the first business to leave the Ellery stable.

As reported on Wednesday, Ellery Land is in administration with local production shuttered and 22 redundancies across the board.

In a statement, founder Kym Ellery said the Ellery trademark and Paris based design company would continue to trade.

Negotiations for a new global distributor are currently underway, she said.

In July 2014, Ellery put her L’America brand up for sale after two years of trade.

The brand had 80 stockists at the time, including Shopbop, Urban Outfitters and David Jones.

Ellery general manager at the time, Chris Buchanan, confirmed the sale when contacted by ragtrader.com.au.

“The decision to close a successful business may be unusual.

“However when considering Ellery’s exponential international growth, it made commercial sense to focus on the main line which now generates more income internationally than domestically.

“Whilst it will be the last collection of L’America produced by Ellery, we are confident it won’t be the last.”
