Iconic Italian denim brand Diesel has announced the winners of its 'Denim Refuel'd' internship in collaboration with RMIT University, Melbourne.

Paris Moschis and Yue Chen will travel to Italy to take part in a design internship at Diesel's headquarters in Breganze under the company's artistic director Nicola Formichetti.

It follows Formichetti's trip to Australia in March to launch the 'Welcome to Diesel World' exhibition at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival.

The 'Denim Refuel'd' course challenged final year RMIT students to revitalise traditional applications of denim textiles.

Shortlisted students were selected to present their designs and concepts to a board of Diesel directors including Formichetti and head of style and research development, Rina Tollio, with one winner to be selected.

Although Formichetti believes the high calibre of talent presented to the panel scored both Moschis and Yue the coveted internship.

“Diesel has always supported young creative around the world and we are thrilled with the results of this program.

"We were blown away by the quality and finesse of all of the designs presented to us by the students.

“Paris and Yue’s concepts were particularly unique and inspiring, and we are very much looking forward to having them join us at Diesel HQ.”

Formichetti also said that Australian talent aligns with Diesel's brand philosophy.

“(Diesel) are daring and brave, and I think Australians are the same”.
