Australian fashion retailer Cotton On has had to reimburse workers after discovering over $35,000 in underpayments.

It is estimated around 30 workers at its distribution centre in New Zealand were affected by the miscalculation.

The payment error was discovered during an audit of payroll compliance.

In 2010, Cotton On back-paid 3289 of its employees more than $278,000 after it failed to pay staff for attending training outside of working hours.

The latest breaches centred around annual leave and collective agreement entitlements.
