By Johnny has launched an exclusive 'ath-lounge' collection made entirely from leftover fabrics, in partnership with The Iconic.

Locally made and designed, the collection features four essentials made from aged stock fabrics, capitalising on the boom in sales of the 'work from home' uniform (athleisure and loungewear) seen during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

In April, The Iconic told Ragtrader that it had seen a 156% increase in loungewear and a 193% uptick in sleepwear, compared to last year. 

By Johnny founder and designer Johnny Schembri said that the 'using what we have' attitude is a key focus for the new collection. 

"Over the last few months we have dived into our archives and re-visited left over fabric treasures from collections past, as well as taking the time to source relevant end of line and aged stock fabrications to create newness.

"With a digital-first approach to design, I have been inspired by new opportunities to create and engage with our customer, designing styles for both her and him that are relevant to the ever changing surroundings.

"This new versatile focus, combined with the approach of ‘using what we have’ is core to our latest By Johnny Athletic Loungewear Collection and we can’t wait to see how The Iconic’s style savvy customer takes to this new line," he said. 

The By Johnny 'ath-lounge' collection is available on both The Iconic and By Johnny websites and retails for between $110-$150.  

The new collection is featured in The Iconic's Considered edit, which allows consumers to shop by five sustainability values.
