Can a fast fashion chain with over 1000 stores produce a custom-made gown in one month?

Cotton On has proven it can do just that after creating a one-off custom gown for its general manager of people Pippa Grange.

Grange wore the creation to the 2014 Toyota AFL Brownlow Awards.

The project was initiated after Cotton On learned Grange would be attending the gala event.

The design was a collaborative process, with CO by Cotton On designers Tamika Rudd and Steph Korevaar working closely with Grange to create the final product.

The trio looked to international catwalks for inspiration before putting ideas to paper.

Grange then selected her top two styles from the sketches and samples were created and fitted.

From there, a decision was made on which style to proceed with.

The gown features a relaxed silhouette and a draped off-the-shoulder design.

In matte, bright cobalt blue silk, the one-off dress also features a side leg split and subtle train.

Grange joined Cotton On Group this year after running consultancy Bluestone Edge.

The firm dealt primarily with elite sports, including the AFL, on building sound ethical cultures.

Grange said the custom-made project was a great opportunity for Cotton On.

"It was great fun working with the CO by Cotton On design team to create the beautiful dress and I feel very lucky to be wearing the custom gown to tonight’s awards.

"We’re excited for the opportunity to have Cotton On, an Australian fast-fashion retailer featured at a red carpet event."
